Let your child know what to expect. Here are some tips for talking to your child about the evaluation.
Medications should be taken as prescribed on the day of testing unless otherwise discussed with Dr. Hoffman and/or the medication prescriber.
Be sure that your child gets a good night of sleep before the appointment.
Illness can affect evaluation results. If your child has a fever or other symptoms of physical illness, please reach out as soon as possible to reschedule.

Bring a drink and snacks/small lunch for breaks.
If your child wears glasses, be sure to bring them.

The signage for the building is outdated. Look for a blank white sign in front of the building.
My office is within a converted house (and the exterior looks like a house). When you arrive, you will walk up to a porch and see my name on the front door. Enter through that door into the waiting area.
There is free street parking along S Braddock Avenue and on the adjacent streets throughout the neighborhood. Please be mindful of driveways and street signs when parking.

Initial 45-60 minutes: Intake interview with child/adolescent and parent/guardian
2-4 ½ hours: Direct testing with child/adolescent
The time needed for direct testing varies depending on age, referral concerns, and the general pace/need for breaks. For example, with an appointment that starts at 8:30am, the appointment may end as early as 11:15am, while in other cases the end time may be as late as 2:00pm. I will be able to provide a more precise estimate of the end time once we complete the intake interview.
You are welcome to leave during the direct testing as long as your child is comfortable. There are several coffee shops nearby, such as 61B Cafe and Biddle’s Escape. There is also a small waiting area at my office, though unfortunately we do not have guest WiFi access.
